Alternative Financing for Business Endeavors

Business men and women always seem to suffer from boredom and always have their hand in other projects that may or may not be related to their main business. This is because they always seem to strive for perfection in all that they do. They see opportunities that others do not and always jump on-board with new ventures to make money as this is their motivator in many ways. It is imperative that they see something in a new venture that makes them believe they will make money by investing. Often, these opportunities rear their ugly head when a business person is strapped and they may even have to turn to alternative financing before taking that leap.

I'm not sure if you celebrate Easter
or not, but regardless, I sincerely
hope you had as great a weekend as I
just did with my family.

First the Easter Bunny set up a fun
treasure hunt in our house that had
our kids absolutely focused on finding
their treasure. ;o)

Then we had a wonderful family breakfast,
went next door to a maple syrup farm/
apple orchard and had a second Easter
egg hunt in the woods, as well as got to
show our kids how they make maple syrup.

And the weather was just gorgeous!

Then finished our weekend with a lovely
family dinner, all 12 of us! ;o)

I am so grateful and so thankful.

I hope you too had a wonderful weekend

Don't Do All The Work Yourself

The worst business advice I ever received was...

"If you want it done right, then do it yourself!"

1. I don't have enough time in a day to do everything myself.
2. My most successful products have been compilations of other people's ideas & stuff.
3. When you Joint Venture with others you get to use their lists too! That's HUGE leverage!
4. I don't need to be 'qualified', I can hire someone else who is!
5. I'm in business for myself so I can have time to enjoy my time with my husband & kids!

Melissa Gilbert Meets Amanda van der Gulik

Last week I had the unique opportunity to meet Melissa
Gilbert in person. You may know her as the little girl
who played Laura Ingles in the famous TV show, "Little
House on The Prairie" based on the "Little House" books
written by Laura Ingles Wilder.

WOW, what a wonderful experience.

First of all I have to tell you a little bit of background
here. I have been absolutely in love with the whole "Little
House" books and the TV series since I was a little girl.

There is just such a sense of complete happiness and
comfort to them that give you a true feeling of peace.
I just love that.

Last Christmas my sweet husband, gave me the complete
TV series as my Christmas present. What joy. ;o)
I was over the moon.

Since then we've been watching one espisode each night
at dinner time with our kids as well as reading a chapter
or two of the "Little House" books for our homeschooling
english classes.

So we were thrilled to find out that there was a musical
as well and that Melissa Gilbert was playing 'Ma' in the
musical.

We went to the show and it was incredible, I highly
recommend it. It's in Toronto playing at the Cannon
Theatre right now, and it's moving to other cities
as well, if it get to a city near you, go and see it.
You'll be so delighted by it. The girl who now plays
Laura is incredible.

Anyway after that show I asked if we could meet Melissa.
She wasn't doing any signing but the lady at the door said
she'd let us out the back entrance where the stage crew
leave after work and then it was just let up to chance
whether or not we would see her.

It was absolutely freezing out and we had little children
with us, so we wouldn't be able to wait out long, and we
wouldn't be allowed back inside once we were let out.

So I got the kids all bundled up after a quick trip to the
bathroom with them all and out we went.

Well, it was exactly one minute after we were let outside
that the stage door opened and out came the full cast.

It was thrilling to see Melissa in person. And there were
only 4 other fans waiting outside to see her, so our timing
couldn't have been better.

It was cold and I knew she was tired after just doing
two shows back to back in one day, so I didn't want
to take up too much of her time. The other fans all wanted
autographs, but I wanted something more personal to
remember her by. So I asked for a photo.

She was so sweet to our kids, you can tell that she is a
natural with kids. We told her that we had come from
New Zealand and that caughter her interest. Then my
little girl told her that we had seen all of her 'Little
House' shows and movies and she was so sweet, bending
down and speaking directly to my daughter.

Anyway, just wanted to share with you how you can have
your dreams come true if you believe.

I didn't tell you this yet, but I had hoped to meet Melissa
in person but didn't really expect it to happen until I took
my kids to the bathroom before heading outside.

I found myself saying, "oh I hope we'll get to meet her" and
then I noticed what I was saying and quickly corrected myself.
I told myself, "I'm so happy and grateful now that Melissa
and I have met, she was so sweet with my kids and we have the
most amazing photo of her with us. What a treat that was."

(I am learning the principles that make the Law of Attraction
work, so as a LOA student I am always ready to adjust my
thoughts into present, positive tense, and it's amazing how
that has positively affected my life so far.)

So I didn't even feel surprised when it came true just as I
had immagined it. I felt incredible gratitude but not surprise.

I wish for all of your dreams to come true also.

According to a recent Sallie Mae study, college students carried an average balance of $3,173 on their credit cards last year, a record high since the first analysis in 1998. A whopping 82 percent revolved a balance each month.
On May 22, President Barack Obama signed the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure, or Credit CARD, Act of 2009 into law. Among many changes, one in particular is geared towards those college kids.

How to Teach Your Children about Responsibility: 5 Tips For Ages 5 -12; Part 2 By Susan A. Haid

Every time I mandate that my three children, ages 3 to 10, help with the dishes, housecleaning, laundry, pets or some other mundane task, I prove to myself over and over again how important these experiences are for my children. Of course, their contribution makes my life easier. However, I clearly see that they are not only quite capable of accomplishing these tasks, they are learning to take responsibility for their own life in the process.

Here are five tips to teach kids how to take responsibility around the home and for their developing lives.

1. Help kids learn how to organize and manage their belongings. We need to require that our kids clean their rooms, make their beds, put their own laundry away, keep track of their homework and school projects, sports gear, musical instruments and so on. Once in a while, we can give them a hand, but kids should know that they are the ones ultimately responsible for these duties.

2. Help kids become active contributors to life at home. Every member of a home should contribute to the upkeep and management of the home. Age appropriate duties should be assigned to each family member, and once every week or two, the family should work together to accomplish these tasks. Duties such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, wiping down the countertops, raking leaves and even cooking are jobs kids of all ages can participate in. These duties give our kids the skills to become competent contributors as adults.

3. Help kids learn to set boundaries so they honor their own needs as well as respect the needs of others. This is a fundamental lesson parents need to teach their kids. It’s OK is many circumstances to say no. We want our kids to stay in touch with what they may need and give them the skills to meet them. We also want our kids to be aware that everyone has the right to set boundaries when they are appropriate and necessary. This is a basic survival skill.

4. Help kids learn to be accepting of differences. Having nonjudgmental conversations about the differences we encounter in the viewpoints, lifestyle, beliefs and ideas of others is a basic tenet of building a philosophy of acceptance and compassion in our kids. These are great conversations to have because they ultimately help our kids get clear about who they are, what they think and what they believe. This also means that our kids should have a safe place to express their individual views even if they are different from our own.

5. Help kids accept the outcome of their choices and create new ones.

It is the ultimate empowering experience when kids make their own choices and have their own resulting experiences. As parents, of course we need to be aware of what our kids are choosing so that we can intervene if it is necessary to do so. Although it is often difficult to give up control, we simply can’t make every decision for our kids. This deprives them of their experiences, the consequences of which are far less during childhood compared to adulthood. As often as it is reasonable to give our kids the authority to make choices for themselves, we should do so and understand we are respecting their individuality, honoring their learning process and building their knowledge of and confidence in themselves.

These are basic requirements that have worked well in my home so far. I respect the rights of my children to live freely and happily. As their mother, I want my kids to have the skills to manage their lives very well without me or without the help of anyone else if they choose. I want to help my children become empowered and sovereign. By giving them reasonable responsibilities and expectations, I hope to provide them with the simple knowledge about how to successfully manage their own lives after they leave home. And ultimately, I want them to soar!

How to Teach Your Children about Responsibility: 5 Tips for Kids Ages 5-12 By Susan A. Haid

How long of a tether do you keep on your kids? The struggle for authority is an age-old dilemma. Who chooses? How much authority should we give our kids? Freedom is something we all need, yet how do we structure our lives so that we get what we need and our children have the appropriate setting in which to make their own choices, learn and grow?

As long as our kids are at home with us, there is a safety net beneath them. Certainly we want the most for our children. We want them to surpass our goals and achieve ones of their own. So we want them to grow. We want them to face challenges. As parents, where do we begin? How do we know what is appropriate, and how do we know exactly what our kids need to do to learn responsibility? This is a nagging question, and although there is no easy way through the parenting process, there are certain basic things we can do to help our kids become responsible adults.

Here are 5 basic strategies to help kids learn the basics:

1. Help kids develop knowledge of themselves and appreciation of their individuality. We must give our kids the freedom to choose which activities and interests they wish to explore. It is our job to facilitate their discovery of their individual and very personal interests by listening to who they are and what they tell us. This means we do not impose our interests and ideas upon them. After offering to them various different opportunities, we accept and support their choices without judgment.

2. Help kids take ownership of their choices. We need to look at every experience our kids have as an opportunity to cultivate self-understanding. This means that when our kids make choices for themselves, they learn to evaluate the consequences without judgment from us. This gives them time to figure out certain life lessons for themselves within the parameter of a safe setting. This is far more impactful that mere rhetoric from us. We are here to listen and offer support during this process. It is a tremendously valuable experience to let our kids make reasonable choices cradled within the opportunity to start over when things don’t turn out as anticipated.

3. Help kids learn how to manage their time. As parents, we help our kids to do this by setting forth our expectations of their responsibilities for the day (homework, athletic or music practice, chores etc.) and then allowing them to accomplish their duties independently, of course with a gentle reminder or two along the way. There should be reasonable consequences in place for failure to accomplish general expectations.

4. Help kids to accept their feelings without judgment. This starts with our ability to accept our own feelings without judgment. Our kids observe how we accept, experience and appropriately express our feelings. This gives them the standard for accepting and expressing their own feelings. Then, we must give our kids the space to appropriately feel their feelings without judgment. This gives our kids the beautiful knowledge about how to take responsibility for their own feelings when they are in a safe space to do so.

5. Help our kids to set their goals for the day, weeks or months ahead. We must set aside some time to listen to what our kids are hoping to experience in the days, week and months ahead. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what might be possible for our child to accomplish and experience with our help and support. This helps our kids learn how to take charge of their life by actively pursuing their developing interests by making them become a reality.

Setting forth strict and uncompassionate guidelines deprives our kids of their ultimate authority in the long run. Conversely, setting forth no guidelines whatsoever undermines the development of a child’s sense of authority and mastery over their life.

Let kids see the results of their own choices. Let them hear the impact of their own words. They must be able to experiment with the world before them.

There are several simple but critically important keys for raising empowered children. We can give our kids the tools they need, starting at a very young age. These tools will empower them throughout their lives as they grow, yet they are core values that will evolve more fully as time passes. Let me first state that by core values, I am referring to values that develop and mature from within the child and are not imposed upon the child from the outside. The point is to nurture the growth of concrete navigational equipment that is rooted from within the child and stems from the child’s own personal life experience. This will result in a powerful form of self- knowledge, otherwise referred to here as “authority,” that is ultimately deeply empowering because it is the result of actual life experience. There is no better teacher than experience itself.
There are 17 basic fundamental concepts to begin with. In this article I will be addressing the first key concept which is authority. For kids, this can be a confusing subject depending on the information they are given. The bottom line, if we are to cultivate empowerment within a child, is that we must support our children in developing their innate understanding of themselves, who they are, what they think, what they feel, and what they believe. By this, I mean that we must help our children to understand themselves from the inside out first, rather than imposing concepts from the outside. We must help our children not only to understand but also respect what they think, feel and believe about their life experiences. As parents, we must help our children learn to trust their feelings, instincts, thoughts and reactions. If we separate our kids from this basic and often protective information, we have unwittingly initiated their path of separation from themselves and their consequent ability to move through life in a way that is constructive and healthy.
We must become very good listeners who can listen without judgment. First and foremost, we must listen to, honor and respect the thoughts and feelings of our children. Why is this so important? You see, as a child tells us their story, our listening without imposing judgment or giving advice acknowledges the individuality of their experience and validates and values their thoughts and feelings. This allows the child’s own discovery process to unfold. This allows the child’s problem-solving abilities to develop. And most potently, this allows the child to remain fully connected to their innate and natural abilities to trust their own feelings, ideas, instincts and consequent decisions about their life experiences. This supports the development of a core value system that will be difficult to challenge because it comes from within and is based on personal, real world knowledge.
How important is this key concept of self-knowledge and authority? It is critical. By supporting kids in developing self-knowledge, we help them cut through the confusion. Confusion is based in having to weigh and balance who they truly are with who they feel they are supposed to be. There is only one true answer. In addition, often with the development of self-understanding comes compassion, and what more valuable “core value” is true and abiding compassion?
As parents, we can give our children the confidence to trust themselves in any situation by nurturing their innate ability to choose what is compassionate for themselves and others. This eliminates the possibility of selfish, self-serving behavior yet honors each person's right to choose for themselves. This also leads to the development of inner clarity so that abusive people and situations are seen for what they truly are.
This is true authority. It has absolutely nothing to do with the concept of power, and this is the type of guidance our children need to live healthy, happy, fulfilling lives.

The world is full of spiritual ideals, and for this, I am grateful. There is nothing I love more than delving into the bigger picture of who we are and why we are here. Exploring consciousness is such a marvelous journey, but at the end of the day, I also embrace the most practical, applicable elements of my discoveries and new understandings. What I laugh about is how often I hear the same spiritual truths over and over again, yet each time I have a deeper appreciation for their eternal meaning. As I continue to grow and evolve, as we all do, I get a clearer and more beautiful picture of life and its inherent wisdom.
Applying wisdom to parenting is certainly experimental is some ways yet not entirely so. And you certainly don’t need to have years and years of parenting experience under your belt to parent with ease and with joy. You also don’t need to have years of spiritual seeking behind you to parent with wisdom. I have three children. As every parent knows, every day is a new adventure, a new experience and a new challenge. What I am learning to do is come to the parenting process with a clean canvas in every moment. I have learned with practice to get out of my head. The thinking mind has its own set of beliefs and its controls. This is fine to a point.
Now, I am not proposing unconscious parenting devoid of logic or reason. What I am proposing instead is very conscious parenting; this type of parenting requires us to let go of all our preconceived ideas and controls imposed by our thinking mind. When we sit in the space of inner stillness, the place of no judgment or control, we actually open the door to higher understanding. We give ourselves the room to perceive events from a place that is truly a superior form of intelligence…the type of expansive intelligence that might be called intuitive. We then use our thinking mind to apply this innate and pure wisdom to our life circumstances.
So many people believe that wisdom must be earned but I can tell you otherwise. Step outside of your thinking mind from time to time and give yourself the gift of “no thought.” Simply allow yourself to be in this place of seeming nothingness, which is actually a pool of unlimited potentials. Play with this exercise as you parent your children. As you develop your skill, you will have amazing insights into yourself, your children, and your family among other things. You just may discover that the answers you’re looking for are innate to you. You may be able to let go of all your controls and find out that there is another way to parent that is better for you as well as for your kids.
Yes, this takes some conscious effort, but the rewards are worth it. The answers may come when you least expect them. The most beautiful part of intuitive parenting is that the answers and solutions are unique to you and your family. This does not imply that you cannot draw solutions from all around you, but it does imply that you are the final authority. This is an empowered way to live and to parent. It is a new way to find creative solutions and solve problems.
Much like the artist who works upon a clean canvas with each new creation, you can step outside of the ideas of your thinking mind and work from a very pure place of higher understanding to create your life in the most beautiful, original and unconventional way.
Although it has been said before, your life is your art. Why work from a soiled canvas when there is a clean, new one waiting for you?

Hello Parents,

I appologise for not writing for a while. My family and I have been travelling throughout North America and New Zealand and now we are finally back home.

We had the most amazing 2 years in Canada! Thank-you to everyone who made our stay there so welcoming.

We've just gone to pick up our dog, who we have not seen for almost 2 years. It was such a lovely reunion. We will be back home next week.

Times of financial crisis are times of incredible opportunity to teach your children never become a victim to financial crisis.

What better way to role model financial success for our kids than to teach by showing?

Get your finances sorted but show your kids, don't hide it. They will learn by example.

And on the other side, the best way to learn is to teach.

So by teaching children about money, you will in effect be teaching yourself and helping yourself get out of your own financial debts and worries.

Chocolate Lover!!! - by KAM - 12 years old

"I started this business because…

I wanted to have a business and my own money.

I chose chocolate lollipops because I knew it was going to be a success since everyone loves chocolate and it was going to be easy to sell.

Every 2 weeks, I make chocolate lollipops. This is how I do it. My mom takes me to the store to buy the ingredients and materials. When I get home I make the lollipops, after they are all ready and packed I count how many of each flavor I made and write it on my notebook.

I go with my 3 brothers and sell them in my neighborhood and in my school.

When I finish selling all of them I count the money and verify that it matches the number of lollipops.

When I count all the money I divide it this way: to cover the cost of materials

and ingredients, to pay each of my brothers, for each of my 3 piggy banks,

for me, and the rest I leave it in the business bank to re-invest in the business.

My goals are to have money to help people and buy anything I want. And be free…

Being my own boss is difficult because I have to do everything, sell, count, buy etc.

As I write my brother tells me that it difficult because I don't let them (the brothers) do anything else but sell. I will start training one of them to help me making and packing the lollipops. This will give me more time to do other things.

I like being my own boss because I control what I do and when I do it.

I have not donate money because I did not know it was so important now,

I am ready to start donating.

Do you watch the news?

How does it make you feel?

Why do you watch the news?

Have you ever wondered why you watch the news?

It's called the "Rubber Neck Effect".

Here's an example from internet guru, Frank Kern, of what I mean:

You're driving down the highway and you see a beautiful field of colourful flowers all in bloom...

You would probably notice it briefly but would you slow down to enjoy the moment?

Most of us wouldn't.

Now you drive by a horrible accident, ambulance, police, mangled cars, blood and glass everywhere...

Most of us would slow down to see it, right?

Why is this?

It's human nature, we have a "rubber neck" that twists to see the bad news...

But what is it doing to your life?

Do you really need to watch the news?

Why fill your mind with horrible images that you then send back out into your future through the law of attraction.

Instead, why not simply refuse to watch the news, refuse to read the newspaper, refuse to listen to the news on the radio.

Did you know that the news that you NEED to hear about, you will?

Even if you don't watch the news...

If it's important enough to know, someone will tell you about it. They always do.

So save your precious mind space for only the possitive news, the really important negative news will find you anyway so don't go out and purposely find it, let it find you instead.

Be in control of the thoughts and ideas that you let in.

Stop your own "Rubber Neck Effect"!

Two Weeks ago I was travelling with my husband to San Diego for a 'weekend away without our kiddos'.

It was heavenly. We love our children very dearly, but it's also nice to have some quality time alone with your life partner as well! ;o)

We were on our way to meet the people from www.CreateYourOwnMindMovie.com. It was fantastic. (They are the guys who help you put your vision board into a movie format.)

While we were travelling through the terminal we noticed something magnificant!

You know the gang-way that you need to walk through to get to your plane right?

Well, on both sides of the walls of the gang-way were these incredible images with very bold statements.

They caught my eye and made me think of you guys.

We are a different set of people, we have taken our own dreams of teaching our children about money and taken the possitive action to join up other like-minded parents to stay continuously inspired and supported.

So I wrote down the bold statements that I found that day. I wanted to pass them on to you all.

Just as a reminder that we are all different, with different views.
The views are neither wrong nor right, they are just different.

But it is this possitive difference that changes our futures.

Enjoy, them as much as I did. Then reflect and make a concious choice as to which view you are going to take to make your life the ultimate life of your dreams.

Well, by using my own personally created mind movie I've been able to reach my goals in both fields!

My own mind movie has helped me reach my goal 100 fold! It's true! Before my mind movie, I had been working on my http://www.funcakedecoratingideas.com/ and http://www.teachingchildrenaboutmoney.com/ websites for over 3 years with little success.

Then after creating my mind movie (in which I stated how incredibly grateful I was that my cakes and kids websites were international, making sales, and changing the lives of cake decorators and young children everywhere for their creative and financial betterment. And also, I stated how incredibly grateful I was that now that my websites were a success I was attracting inspirational people to me would ask me for advice and help with cake decorating, teaching children about money and entrepreneurialism in general.)

Well, this is what happened:

My good friend Dennis Zabawa wrote a wonderful piece today on the DreamRichly Daily Forum. It is from the inspiration of his blog post that I write this one to you today.

Have you ever made a promise that you couldn't keep?

How dissappointed did you feel for breaking your promise?

How badly did the person who you made your promise to feel?

You are not alone here, I have found myself in this horrible situation time and time again. I truly mean to keep my promise but then I find myself simply not able to keep it. But we can change that!

Try this one next time you find yourself making a promise...

UNDER promise - OVER deliver!

I always teach my kids to under promise and over deliver.

Actualy I've done this on purpose in one of the ebooks that I give away for free to kids, it's an ebook with 50 money making ideas for kids but when they open it up there are actually 57!

I want them to learn at a young age that you really need to watch what you promise. You'll make people so much happier if you surprise them with more than they expect instead of under delivering on your promise.

If you think a job will take you a week to accomplish, then say it will take you two or at least a week and a half. Give yourself the space for any mishaps to be concurred and then you can have the wonderful luxury of telling your happy client, "I'm done already!" and thoroughly enjoy their happy surprise.

End Of An Experiment

"I was chuckling yesterday - it's so nice when your kids come to a conclusion all on their own, a conclusion you have been waiting for them to reach.

"The backstory to this one is this. A couple of years ago, my daughters started a business breeding pet rats. They borrowed the start-up capital from us, and paid interest out of their pocket money. After a while, two of them wanted to pay down the principal out of their pocket money, too, to get rid of the debt earlier. (We decided not to intervene with a good-debt-bad-debt conversation at that point!)

"One of the twins didn't want to pay extra, and there were words exchanged.In the end, we reached a compromise - the one who didn't want to pay extra would become an employee. She would be paid each time she helped with the cage-cleaning, but she would not be entitled to a share of any profits which came down the track.

"This smoothed things over, and some time later the debt was all paid and the profits were being distributed between the other two. We discussed the difference between being paid for what you do at the time you do it, vs taking a risk and possibly getting a bigger payday later.

"They wound the rat business up after a couple of years, and a couple of months later, the oldest was finally old enough to apply for a job a McDonalds. The younger two, about the same time, started internet businesses. I talked to the oldest about having an internet business, too, but she was so dazzled by the enormous size of her first fortnight's pay from McDonalds that she wasn't interested.

"She said she wanted to repeat the employee-vs-business experiment they had done with the rat business, with her as the employee this time. She was very confident that she could make more as an employee than the others would online.

"Over the past few months, she has started to notice the problems with being an employee. She was sick, and had to reduce her hours. She was rostered to work while her friends were out at parties. She learned how everything worked within a few weeks, and boredom set in.

"The final clincher was when she started rethinking her career choices. The years of study to become an anaesthetist started to look like a bit of a drag.

'But,' she said, 'if I'm not going to be an anaesthetist, what will I be?'

"I pointed out that there's not a huge hurry to decide (she's only fourteen after all), and then I dropped in a mention that if she had a bit of money coming in from an internet business, she wouldn't have to make a final decision about her career for quite a few more years.

"She thought about it. Then she said 'If I was making enough money from the internet business, I wouldn't ever need a job, would I?'

'Not unless you wanted to do something that you have to do as an employee,' I said, 'like being an astronaut.'

"Wheels turned almost audibly.

'I want a website,' she said.

"And so endeth the experiment!

"Don't get me wrong - I'm not opposed to people having jobs. There have been times in my career that I have been, at least on paper, on someone's payroll.

"I am opposed to people being raised with an employee mindset. I am proud of my McDonalds employee daughter, not just for having the gumption to apply the very first day their website would let her in to do so, but also for going out and getting a trade certificate as a barista before she applied, to make herself more appealing as an applicant, and for almost immediately becoming one of their fastest front-counter operators.

"The way she explains it, she sets herself challenges to see how fast she can get the orders together, because it makes the work more interesting and rewarding. She never just shows up in 'time serving mode' with the sole aim of surviving her hours and collecting her pay. Even at a job as apparently menial as working at Maccas, she is thinking all the time about how to add value, for herself and for her employer.

"If everybody approached their work with that kind of attitude, what a wonderful world it would be!"

There are NO mistakes in life!

It's true!

We are raised to beleive that we will make horrible mistakes
and that our mistakes will haunt us for all eternity.

This is simply NOT true!

There are No mistakes in life, ONLY very expensive
learning lessons!

If you 'get' that then you will be a success in life, but only if
you truly 'get' that.

Everytime you are about to venture out on a new adventure,
remind yourself, there are no mistakes.

Feel the fear of your new adventure, and then do it anyway!

If mis-adventures pile up along the way, see them as your
life's lessons.

Meditate on what went wrong, and how you can either fix it,
or learn from it and move on.

There is a lesson in all of our mis-adventures.

Nothing can be so bad that we cannot learn from our
mis-adventures and become the better people that we
know we can be.

So for this week:

Feel the FEAR and DO it ANYWAY!

My question to you is:

Do you want to be a "Little Guy" or do you want to be a "Big Guy"?

I know what I want...

I want to be HUMUNGOUS!!!

Don't accept only what you can easily have, GO FOR MORE!!!

It's the path to the dream that is the happiness, no path, no happiness.

As parents I invite you to encourage your children (like a tough football coach) to ALWAYS go for MORE!

We have softened society enough.

We don't fail students anymore, we don't give out papers marked in red ink anymore...

Where does this end? What will this do to our budding entrepreneurs?

The ones who are destined to grow up to support our world?

If we crush their goals, mush their reaches, than it will be ONLY our OWN FAULT that they won't amount to anything BIG and succeed in life NOT only for themselves, but also for US!

Push your child to reach a lot further, and remind them to ENJOY their journey.

It's the struggle that we enjoy not the landing point.

Real Life Example of the Law of Attraction

This weekend a 24 year old dream of mine finally came true!

24 years ago, my best friend in the world disappeared one
day from school and never returned.

It was a tragedy for me.

I can still clearly remember the moment it happened:

We were in gym class playing Dodge Ball when our school
secretary walked in and told my childhood best friend, of 7
years, that her mother was there to pick her up to take her
to a doctor's appointment.

I didn't even have a chance to say good-bye to her as the
ball was coming my way and I had to catch it or be hit by it
hard!

Then it was weekend, so I didn't think much about my friend
being taken out of school.

But by Monday, I noticed that she had not returned.

By Wednesday, I called her home to see if she was ill.
Her father told me she wasn't feeling well and would stay
out of school for a while.

After about a week, my parents told me that I would probably
never see her again as her mother had taken her and her two
sisters away from their father and they would not be coming
back.

They were on the run.

I went into a deep depression for the first time of my life,
I was only 11 years old.

My parents really didn't know how to help me. I felt lost.
I didn't know if she was alright or if she was even alive.

After about 2 months, I was called into my principal's
office and told that she was in British Columbia but that he
was not allowed to tell me which school.

This dissappearance haunted me for years and really affected
my own perception on life.

After about 6 months, I decided that I would probably find
her again when I was 35 years old.

I didn't know what the "law of attraction" was, so I didn't
realize what I had subliminally caused into action that day
that I made that desparate decission.

Now fast forward 23 years:

After many failed attempts at finding my long lost best friend,
I found myself sitting on an airplane headed back to Canada for
a long year and a half vacation to give my husband and children
the gift of truly experiencing a real Canadian year!

I had been learning about the power revealed in the movie,
"The Secret" and had already started to put what I had
learned into motion.

So I decided, while on that long plane ride from New Zealand
to Canada, that I would spend my time envissioning my reunion
with my long lost best friend.

I imagined her driving up to my birthday bon-fire party and
finally being able to give her a great big hug.

A few weeks after arriving in Canada I did have a birthday
bon-fire party but no long lost best friend showed up.

I had forgotten that you need to give it time to make the law
of attraction work for you.

You can't expect immediate returns, you just need to concieve
the idea, believe it will come true, give it time and then happily
receive your rewards at the end.

So fast forward 8 months:

I find her big sister on http://www.facebook.com/, Incredible!

Then she gives my long lost best friend's phone number.

I call her up and we have an incredible teary, happy,
emotionally charged, conversation and make plans to meet up
that weekend. (I'm only still 34 years old).

But no such luck, she cancels on me due to family
obligations.

No worries, we try again.

And we fail again!

Then I leave the country for a month and then go travelling
through the Canadian Maritimes for another month. So still
no catch up.

Then days before my next (incredibly delayed - by two
months) birthday bon-fire I email her asking if she would
like to come.

I don't get a reply.

Then the day before I get a reply, she is coming!

But she doesn't show up.

So I quickly check my emails during my party as it gets
later and later...

Yes, and email from her. She is sorry to say that she is
late BUT she IS still coming!

Then she arrives.

We finally get to meet eachother, in person, after 24 long
years of waiting, and guess what?

I'm 35 years old AND we're meeting for the very first time
at my birthday bon-fire party!

Talk about the "Law of Attraction" in motion!

My point?

Create your goals, clearly state and imagine what you
desire. Then trust in your heart that it will manifest, and
then enjoy the moment when your dream arrives.

I did!

But beware...

The "Law of Attraction" is always working, whether you know
it or not. So make sure you create your thoughts the way you
wish them to be.

Don't make yourself have to wait 24 years like I did!

Let Them Steal Your Kid's Wallet, But NEVER Let Them Steal

Last Friday, on our last day of our family vacation to PEI
and New Brunswick, Canada, our credit and debit cards
were stolen.

Not the most desired way to end a family vacation.

This is what happened:

We decided to go swimming at the local swimming pool in St.
Stephen, New Brunswick.

In my husband's haste to get our son ready to go swimming he
completely forgot that he had put his wallet in the pocket
of his shorts which he had left in the change room.

We had a fabulous hour and a half of amazing swimming with
our two young children.

We just really enjoyed ourselves.

Our little girl, 6 years, was able to swim all by herself in
the deep end with no water wings!
It was incredible and she was so proud.

Our little boy, 4 years, was excitedly showing off how he
could now look under the water with his eyes open!
He was thrilled.

It was a gorgeous sunny day with enough cloud cover to not
get ourselves burned.

We really enjoyed ourselves.

Then it was time to get dressed and start our long journey
back home.

While I was getting myself and our daughter dressed, I heard
my husband call into our changeroom, "somebody stole our
bank card!"

I was shocked that someone would do that. But other than
that initial shock, I felt an incredible calm come over me.

I knew that all would be right.

What they did was awful, not only did they throw all
of my husband's wallet cards all over the changeroom,
they also grabbed our 4 year old son's underwear
and threw that in one of the toilets!

We finished getting dressed, and then went to my aunt's
store and used her phone to cancel the bank card. By this
time we also noticed that the credit card had been stolen as
well, so we cancelled that one too.

Then we filed a report with the local police and then
continued on with our journey home.

Now this event could have ruined our beautiful day, but
we didn't let it.

I had felt quite confident that they would not be able to
access our bank card and we were able to cut off the cards
before any money had been stolen.

We knew all would be just fine. A replacement card was on
it's way and we were safe once again.

Our son even learned a valuable lesson:

Never throw anyone's underwear in the toilet! It's not a
nice thing to do!

He learned about the rule that says, "Do unto others as
you would do unto yourself."

I really don't know if I would have been able to teach
this lesson to him any better than this incident did!

So all in all, it wasn't so bad and we still had a wonderful
trip home.

So my advice to all of you is: They can steal your
wallet, but they can never steal your attitude!

That part's up to you!

Admit Your Defeat!

How often have you tried to accomplish something only to fail and then hide your failure?

I know I have.

Be honest with yourself.

It doesn’t feel good to admit defeat but to bottle up your mistakes inside and to try to hide them will only drain you of positive energy and fill you with negative tension.

We all make mistakes, it’s nature’s way of teaching us new lessons.

I like to say, "There are NO mistakes, ONLY very expensive LESSONS!"

Don’t be afraid of failure and don’t be afraid to admit your defeat.

Not only will you be freeing yourself of all that negative energy, you will also be giving the beautiful gift of new lessons learned to those with whom you share your defeat.

Be refreshed and begin again, learning from your mistakes.

Forget school!

I know we were raised in school to feel badly about making mistakes.

Start fresh and embrace your mistakes, learn from them and then try not to repeat them.

I often hear, "Be Realistic!" whenever someone finds I'm being too happy.

What I say to them, with a smile, of course, is, "We both are!"

Realism, is only in which way you choose to see something.

It's raining today.....

"It's wet and dreary, what a horrible day!"

OR

"Look at that, I'm so pleased, our garden really needed the water. It's going to be so refreshing and smell just wonderful today!"

You're choice.

So whenever someone tries to dampen your day, just remember, it's only THEIR perspective, NOT yours!

You're BOTH right, so you get to choose!
